How can we continue to be SATISFIED with a life that is full of constant reminders that everything is out of our control, with a brain that is misfiring more frequently, with strength that is failing, or with a soul that is overwhelmed and sagging under the weights and pressures???
It's so easy to spend these days of uncertainty and ever-increasing stress dreading what's going to happen next, wondering how things can ever work out, lamenting over what we can't do what we want to do, or, just putting the problems out of our mind and pushing ahead with what we've always done.
Women in the Bible faced no fewer troubles. How did they handle life and still keep on going?
~Eve, even in a perfect environment, was in the wrong place (not with her husband), she looked at the wrong thing (what she desired), and listened to the wrong voice (the devil himself in disguise).
~Sara and Rebekah both took matters into their own hands...all with disastrous results.
Other women, in spite of their situation or background, simply chose to seek and obey God wholly, continually, day by day, moment by moment. They chose to believe “it is well”! But women like Rahab, Esther, Ruth, and the “Great” woman (Read here story in II Kings 4:8-37) all chose to stay satisfied with life as God's hand allowed; therefore their “end” was blessed!
Have you, as a wise, obedient woman of God, considered how your “end” will be? ...the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God... all things come alike to all...(Eccl 9:1,2) Would you be satisfied with your life if your “works” ended without notice? For man also knoweth not his time... he knoweth not what shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be? Regardless of your age, speed, strength, knowledge, skill ...the race is not to the swift...strong...wise, understanding, skillful...time and chance happeneth to them all. (Eccl 9:11,12a; Eccl 8:7,8)
Is it possible to simply stay satisfied; to say “it is well”?
...surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God (Eccl 8:12b)
The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fearhim, in those that hope in his mercy. (Psa 147:11)
If we continue to keep God first and fear Him, we need not fear the end of our abilities and strength. The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
We can also find help to stay satisfied in following the counsel of the Word of God; we need not plan and scheme to make our life satisfying! ...Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. (Prov 19:20,21,23)
Rest assured that God has a purpose when He allows our trust in Him to be tested.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: GOD also hath set the one over against the other , to the end that man should find nothing after him. (Eccl 7:4)
Be satisfied with Him.
