The road is a busy, noisy, potentially dangerous place surrounded by hazards...crazy drivers, potholes, curves, blind hills, bad weather… many things that can throw us off course. In the busyness of this road called Life, I must make a conscious decision to Be Still. Psalms 46:10 says "Be still and know that I am God".
I have found that Stillness never "just happens".
It takes determined effort to find a Still, Quiet place to get alone with God and His Word... Especially with my 11 children surrounding me. Every morning, I need to search the "Road Map" for directions and prepare for the way ahead! With our 45 foot long, 13&½ foot high bus, we have to plot our course very carefully. We would never even consider just "heading in the right direction", yet how many times do I go through my day just hoping that I'm on course! I must take care to follow the BEST way… to save fuel, time and to avoid potential dangers! On this road of life, I have found the best way to be productive is to schedule our day and try to stick to it. Occasionally we have detours along the way, but I need to be aware that these interruptions are beneficial and not hazardous to the journey. Now, My hubby loves to Enjoy the Journey! Sometimes, I get so focused on "My Plan" that I don't allow Him to lead our family. I have had to learn to relax and allow him to lead… and I have had to learn to enJOY the journey. I have discovered with leading my Children that JOY is essential!! A merry heart doeth good like a medicine!! Chores, school, and the path of life, in general, goes so much smoother when I approach it with a Joyful Spirit! The Joy of the Lord is My Strength!!
In this Journey of life, there are times when we need to stop and "smell the roses"! I get so focused at times on all that needs to be done, that I allow the busyness to overcome us! I've come to realize that it's necessary to play together as a family!! My big kids love to play games together, my Littles love stories, and playtime with Mama! They will work harder during chore time with the knowledge that storytime is coming!️ Lastly, I have learned along this Journey, that HE IS GOD!! I must trust Him... when the trials come, and the way seems too long or too difficult, I must remember that He is God and it is His Path that I am to follow! I can't see the end of this road but GOD CAN! I am his child, and He loves me!
Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
